Maryellen,

Thank you so very much for your kind words. I was so impressed by the spelling acumen of your daughter - and all of the students!

Warm regards,

Hi Lisa,

Not much experience with Spelling Bees except one when I was in 5th grade and lost. Why? The word given to me was Maine and I was penalized for spelling it mane which was incorrect and unfair since the person giving the word never specified. Of course, I never asked her for clarification. Came in second and still remember it many years later.

Good points.

Point 1 reminds me not to inject my PRE-sumptions on a client's situation. Tempting, but not smart. It's why lab tests are required before surgery!

Point 2 reminds me to learn what a client IS expecting and to make sure I deliver that . . . and then some!

Point 3 reminds me that there's no such thing as a 'little' thing when it comes to impressions and perceptions. Every thing is huge. I once worked with MD's and DVM's and one of them was a fanatic about the cleaning crews cleaning under the waiting room chairs. I asked, "Why?". The doc replied, "One of my patients told me once . . . "Dust bunnies under chairs, maybe nothing new upstairs". The neglect of the office cleaning is the only point-0f-reference a patient may have to judge how you handle the 'details' . . . cleaning or keeping current educationally and professionally!" Point well made!

Thank you so much for your comment, Adam. Great point that 'intelligence' and being good at one's job does not automatically imply that one has been made aware of their company's customer care system - or that the company even has one. Warm regards, Lisa

Excellent post and companies absolutely lose sight of the internal communications. I don’t care how smart you are, like you mentioned in point #2 a person needs training and education.
